What it's like to work as a baby massage instructor

We’re biased of course, but we think teaching baby massage must be one of the best jobs in the world.

Nothing compares to helping parents learn techniques that assist with all the common issues they face… lack of sleep, wind, constipation, teething pain, eczema, reflux… the list goes on. The feeling you get, knowing you’ve made a positive difference for the whole family can’t be beat.

The first thing that draws most people to a qualification in baby massage is the babies of course. While there’s no denying that teaching a baby massage class with a full circle of little people, lying down enjoying their leg massage is about one of the cutest things you’ll ever see, this isn’t the most rewarding aspect of working in baby massage. It’s the parents that sincerely express how grateful they are for your help and explain what a difference baby massage has made to their family.

There have been parents who explained they were ready to get a divorce… only to attend baby massage classes and discover they were just sleep deprived and irritable. Once the baby, toddler and parents were getting some much needed sleep - everything calmed down.

It’s helping the Mum who tells you she’s desperate and at her wits end because her baby is not crying, but SCREAMING inconsolably for 8 hours straight each day and she doesn’t know what else to do.

It’s seeing a little 2 or 3 year old taking things very seriously as they learn how to massage their baby brother or sister alongside Mum and Dad, feeling a sense of importance and responsibility instead of jealousy towards the new baby.

...These are some of the things that make being a baby massage instructor so rewarding. Being around babies and watching how cute they are while they enjoy their massage is an added bonus.
