Who's this qualification for?

The Infant Massage Instructor qualification is for people who want to work with parents, teaching infant massage techniques and providing advice on related topics such as when and how long to massage for, what oil should be used for massage, baby body language during massage and much more.

Qualification prerequisites

No pre-requisites apply for the Infant Massage Instructor certificate, there are no age restrictions for this course and you do not need to be a parent yourself in order to complete training.

What will you learn?

Learn how to work with parents, teaching a full-body massage routine, adaptations for wind, reflux and common digestive issues such as constipation. Adaptations are also taught for pre-term and low birth weight infants, children with special needs and adaptations for older children (from birth through to adolescence). You will also learn how to utilise your new qualification, covering a unit of study on working as an instructor. This unit looks at how you run infant massage appointments and classes for parents.

What can you do with this qualification?

Following the course you can work privately, taking appointments and classes with parents. Place your information in locations frequently visited by parents and infants (such as long day care centres, chemists, maternity stores etc); parents can then contact you directly to arrange either a private appointment or attendance at one of your baby massage classes. The parents pay a tuition fee directly to you, their instructor for attendance at their class or for their private appointment.

The number of appointments you take, as well as the days and times you take appointments is entirely up to you. There are no requirements set on instructors regarding how often they need to teach.

If you already work with parents and infants, you may utilise your new qualification in your place of work or use the course for your continual professional development.
